Last Wednesday the one and only VA$HTIE KOLA came to Ann Arbor as part of F.O.K.U.S.‘ MLK Symposium Event Harmony of Contrasts. In between her meet & greet and film panel discussion, Va$htie stopped by F.O.K.U.S. Radio to talk about her career as a fashion designer, video director and party producer.
Later that night I had the honor of DJ’ing a special F.O.K.U.S. edition of her infamous 1992 Party.
Footage from the Interview & Party:
Part 1: Va$htie discusses life on the road, Common’s “Testify” video, Q-Tip as a DJ, the vision behind her parties + more.
Part 2: Va$htie talks her departure from Def Jam, Theophilus London, Hellz Bellz + more.
Check out Va$htie’s blog HERE for more recap!
Special thanks to Va$htie, Isis, Lady Bugg, Sava’s State Street CafĂ© & the whole F.O.K.U.S. CRU for an incredible night!!!
